How to update a previous version of MultiQC ?

Never uninstall the old version. This would erase your QC data

1) Updating MultiQC5 : Every purchaser of MultiQC5 was emailed in march 2009 a free new registration key for v6 and a link to a dedicated software that converts v5 data to the new format of v6 data.

2) Updating MultiQC6 : It is free. Your former registration key is valid. Simply install the newer version over the older one. The newer one will take the place of the former one.

Very important notice for users of version 6.0 : To comply with the UAC (User Access Control) of Windows 7, MultiQC since its version 6.1 stores data files to a mandatory data folder different from the program folder. The location of the data folder depends on the version of Windows :

Data folder in Vista and Windows 7 : C:\ProgramData\MultiQC6
Data folder in Windows XP : C:\ Document and Settings\All users\Application Data\MultiQC6

The installer of MultiQC will move your former QC data files to the newer data folder and then will erase the older data folder.

Do not update if you do not want this new installation scheme
